My counselor at Gateway Mental Health Center thought it was a good idea for me to get a job, despite the fact that I had been unemployed for a long period of time. She told me that the Cookie Place Café was a place where people with emotional and psychological disabilities could work and earn money. Working at Cookie Place has built up my self-esteem, my self-confidence; it lifts my spirits and gets me out socially. I even made a best friend through Cookie Place! The interaction with the customers is nice too. The customers are very polite and considerate of my feelings. I like the understanding, the patience and compassion that I receive at Cookie Place.
